This website has been designed for my research project about how the development of the Piano has impacted Western music. I will also include how the Piano has evolved to fit different genres; for example, Pop to Classical. Later on, I shall venture into the discovery of how a Piano is made with what components, the ancestry line of the Piano and the Western ways of music involving the Piano, along with the differences between the music pieces with and without the Piano. Since this instrument is used differently depending upon the genre, the type of Piano used varies too. This means the sounds can be effected by the build of the instrument or even country of origin, due to the quality of the craftsmanship. This is something I would like to investigate further in this task as I will look at them from the perspective of including specific details which may enhance my style of playing.
Researching this will be stimulating and will expand my knowledge, as I will soon understand the history of a Piano. Expecting to date back to at least the 1700’s, I expect to find quite a dramatic contrast for the use of the instrument. The development of the Piano and how it has impacted Western music is an appropriate research project for I am a beginner pianist and discovering how and why the Piano developed to what it is today interests me. This is important to me as I want to be able to know as much as I am capable of about the Piano with further intensions to educate other viewers to my website with similar interests of the Piano to me.
Initially wanting a skill with a Piano, I thought focussing on that instrument would be wise to further my theoretical ability as my practical ability is recalled more fluently than my theoretical skill. Having always being interested in the Piano, the title I have created requires researching a diverse mount of information in a field I know little to none about.
Regarding the methods of research for my investigation, I have decided to turn to books for example Musical Instruments of the World for some answers and support for my project, resourced by the local and school library. This is a reliable source of secondary research as the detail inside has been confirmed. Another strategy of secondary research I will undertake is the advantage of the internet. Although, I know, information from this approach will not always be accurate, I find using the internet is a quick way to find material for my project on a basic to advance level, which I can later support or edit with book corrections. Then I will surely be able to display, on my website, genuine facts. As for primary research, I will be interviewing Dr Pye about the difference between Organs and Pianos and how they suit the music composed for them. As he is an employee of my school, discovering answers from him will be easy for me. The reasoning behind interviewing Dr Pye is because he is an experienced Organist with a highly adept knowledge of how the instrument works, which he can apply to the Piano too. Attaining this source of research is essential for my investigation because Dr Pye will supply answers for me to conclude why the Piano ever advanced.
